Lotus certification at Lotusphere 2008

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 2 months ago

What will the certification lab be like this year? Will there be discount exams? I believe that Pearson Vue is not going to be sponsoring it this year. Would it be Prometric instead? What study guides for the ND8 exams will be available?

A post in the Certification Member Site from the IBM Certification Program indicates that certification exams will be discounted to $75 for Lotusphere 2008 conference attendees:

"We will continue to offer certification exams at Lotusphere 2008 at a reduced rate of $75 per exam. Candidates should register at the Cert/ Prep Lab registration room Cape Cod A at the Yacht & Beach Club. A full range of practice tests and courseware will be made available in the Exam Prep Lab. Access to this Lab is free once a candidate registers to take an exam. "

So, it looks like they're moving the Cert Labs from the Swan to the Y&B Club. Hopefully this means that there will be more laptops (and breathing room) available in the Cert Prep Lab. The old location did not have adequate space or laptops.

In prior years they've had free practice tests available from the practice test vendors (SelfTestSoftware, et al), free CBT courseware, and hard copy material (RedBooks, student workbooks from the authorized courseware, etc.). CertPrimer practice test books (http://www.certprimer.com) are also available for the ND8 Upgrade exams.

I'm sure it will be Prometric offering the certification exams, since they are now the exclusive vendor for Lotus certification exams.

How does one locate the certification lounge? It was well hidden last year, and I never did find it.

The Cert lounge has typically been in the Swan on one of the upper floors. I think the specific room is mentioned in the conference materials, but not well advertised.

FYI: CertFX is giving 20% off of their Practice Exams

Use Coupon Code: LS2008

FYI: CertPrimer is offering 30% off their practice test books for the ND8 Upgrade Exams (801 and 802)

I saw that SelfTest Software now has the 801 and 802 update exams available.  Anyone know if they will have their practice exams at the cert lab study area?

This was forwarded by email to me, from someone who couldn't figure out how to post it himself.  -- Andrew

Here is a scheduling trick I learned 2 years ago (the last time I took a certification exam).  It is harder for their scheduling system to "push an exam out" (ie reschedule an exam whose time has already pased) than it is to "pull it back" (ie take an exam that is scheduled in the future "right now").  So it makes sense to schedule your exams towards the end of the conference, and then when you are ready to go ask the test administrator to reschedule your exam to "right now".
